Pillai College’s annual fest Alegria- The festival of Joy organised a 10km To kill “ill” from illiteracy Marathon on 27th January 2019, Sunday. The Event took place at Nerul Gymkhana where all the participants, student volunteers and faculty members assembled at morning 5am. The Marathon included participants from all the age groups which made it much more inspiring and thrilling . A zumba session was held for all the participants where everyone warmed up to start the event. The Marathon started at 6am sharp from the gate of Nerul Gymkhana and continued to Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Head Office and finally ended at the initial point covering the total distance of 10 kilometers.

All the participants put their best foot forward and showed great energy and enthusiasm. In the male category, Sandeep Ramchandrapal was the winner of marathon who finished the whole race in 28 minutes and 29 seconds. Similarly, Nitesh Archekar (28 mins 31 secs) and Sanjay Jagane (28 mins and 32 secs) secured the second and third position, respectively. On the other hand, in the female category, Madhuri Deshmukh grabbed the first position by completing the race in 35 minutes and 57 seconds. Neha Nitin Dhanawade (40 mins 29 secs) and Tanvi Pramod (42 mins 32 secs) secured the second and third position respectively.

Ms. Prerana Wadhwa, Managing Director of Royal tulip hotel Kharghar, Harpreet Singh, Managing Director of U&I entertainment, Mrs. Rekha, Jasleen Kaur, Mr Joy, Doctor Ameesh from Apollo hospital, Mr. Sam Cherian of VACS Sap ltd. were the Chief Guests and Felicitators who exalted the event with their heartening presence. The entire event was organised by student volunteers of Pillai College and hence it turned out to be a great success. Seeing the zeal and enthusiasm at the event, it righteously paved our ROAD TO ALEGRIA 2019.
